{nestled in a gorgeous little box, no detail is left unattended…watch is c/o JORD}
Today I am THRILLED to introduce you to JORD Wood Watches and this Ely Maple beauty. I cannot tell you how much I am truly enjoying this watch. It is lightweight and unique, perfect for summer, when a heavy band looks out of place. I am obsessed, and so is everyone who sees it. Yes, it is made out of wood.

Ely in Maple

The maple is lightweight and so lovely with summer skin with just a hint of tan. I’m quite excited to see how the wood ages and gains character, though it is perfect as is.

Now that I have the studio downtown, I’m constantly checking my parking meter, so I can’t tell you how much I’ve loved having this watch. I haven’t had a watch in awhile, and I MISS it. Checking my phone doesn’t have the same effect, and it’s much quicker to glance at my wrist. Even better? This also shows the date!

This is how much I love my new wood watch! I haven’t taken it off since it arrived a few weeks ago, and so far it has been adventuring with me when I’m not playing fancy-pants dress-up:

{follow me on instagram for photos like these!}
The watch has been adventuring, #caffeinecrazy, rappeling, niece-ing, and more.

Since it is winter now, these two babies are my absolute essentials: Lotion and hand sanitizer in the cutest, most useful little tube from HumanGear. When they shared a leash for Lottie, they also sent me two of their GoToobs, the civilized travel tube. So I just have to tell you about them for a minute here because they are awesome!
{Medium and Small GoToobs}

 These beautiful, silicone tubes are so intuitively designed, they are sure to make travelling a much smoother experience. When I saw they were recommended by my favorite travel expert (the adorably pregnant-with-twins Samantha Brown), I knew I had to try them out.

What makes their tubes so fantastic? To begin with, they are squeezable. If you’ve ever had cheap “travel section at big box store” plastic containers for travel, you know that they are rigid and prone to leaking. And forget about ever cleaning all of your lotion outta there! Let’s be honest, you usually end up throwing them away after a trip because they are so inconvenient, right? No longer! These GoToobs make a great gift for yourself or any intrepid traveler. They’ll love you forever, I’m pretty sure. And I do mean forever, since GoToob offers a lifetime warranty on their products.
Look how pretty they are! Love the pink, orange and clear. They also come in blue/green/clear, all in 3 sizes (Small – 1.25 fl. oz., Medium – 2.0 fl. oz., and Large – 3.0 fl. oz.). They have a no-drip valve, a wide opening so you can get in there to really clean it out and reuse it, a special built-in labeling system so you’ll never put body wash in your hair again, the medium size has a suction cup to stick to the shower (!), and they are all BPA- and PC-free and FOOD GRADE. So you could put your special barbeque sauce in one to bring it camping. You could use it for toothpaste, then conditioner, and then you could use it for spicy mustard! I mean, it’s just so cool.

The medium, filled with shampoo, easily attaches to the shower wall via the built-in suction cup.

Ready & waiting for my next trip!
What are your purse or travel must-haves?

*Thanks to Katrin at HumanGear for her awesome customer service and for providing me with these products for review. This post is my honest and unbiased opinion.

Extra Weekend

 This is my It’s Monday. But it’s still the ‘weekend’! expression.
With Monday being a holiday we had an extra day to wear our weekend duds! If you know me, you know that practically no weekend ensemble is complete without a splash of neon!  Monochromatic with a pop of neon is always right, but since neon is such a trend right now, it’s even more on point.

Add sparkles, stripes, braided belt, lace-edged skirt, and ‘snakeskin’ sandals for even more visual interest.
Did you notice how this outfit is really, really simple in its foundations? It’s a tank, sweater, an ‘easy’ bottom (skirt with shorts underneath to keep things modest), and sandals.  How quickly could a tank top, sweater, and shorts look uninspired and boring? Mixing up the details are what really make the outfit stand out.

Right Hand Rings

I’m so excited that I’ve finally found a way that I ENJOY wearing my right-hand ring finger ring! It’s a lovely little watermelon tourmaline stone that my best friend gave me when I graduated with my Master’s. My last project on campus was to make this simple sterling setting for it completely myself in the jewelry studio. I call it my “You Gotta Be” ring. You know that song? “You gotta be bold, you gotta be strong, you gotta be wiser…” well, that song is MY song (and my mom’s). They don’t play it on the radio very often, so we almost always hear it when we feel like we need to hear it, and it is such a good feel-good get-back-up song.
If you haven’t heard it, here it is, in all of it’s 90s glory:

But I digress. Anyway, my ring. I just never felt comfortable wearing it on it’s own. It would twist around, and just felt—out of place, since I don’t wear any other rings on my right hand on a daily basis. And I’ve had a little “bubble ring” for a few years, but it always sort of hurt my thumb (where I usually wear it), and it never crossed my mind to wear it anywhere else.

Then I saw this lovely picture from Joanna Goddard on some other blog (sorry, totally forgot where), and it just clicked into place for me. I love wearing these two together. Just love it!
My “You Gotta Be” handmade ring and my “bubble ring” from a local craft fair…I prefer the bubble ring underneath the tourmaline {also note to self: shine up my sterling pieces, they are looking grubby}
Also on the subject of rings, I was in a jewelry store last weekend, and the lady told me I had nice, slender and long fingers. I looked at her like she was crazy. This is actually the second time someone has told me that, but I highly disagree, and have always thought my fingers were fat. So I’m pretty sure jewelers just tell you that so you buy their rings and think your fingers are slender and pretty.
And also on the subject of rings, I’m totally wanting this little one now.
