details

{gold glitter cards from target in dollar store frames//(in)courage Postcards from God’s Beach House held up with flowered washi tape}
I’ve been working on a few little details for my apartment lately. Just happy-pretty things. Nothing fancy or expensive here! In fact, nothing much new aside from the gold glitter “art”…everything else I already had–just rearranged or re-appropriated!

{marimekko tin//milk glass vase//milk glass tray//locally handmade bowl//flowers from a friend//liberty of london for target lucite box//pink aviators//clock (gift) from pottery barn//old-as-the-hills etched glass jewelry box I’ve fixed a million times}
{naptime diaries printable & two pages from Life:Beautiful with scripture//bird on branches hooks from joanne’s//thrifted scalloped cream wall box//weekend hats//basket with scarves & umbrellas//planners ready for the week//old schooldesk with library books}
obviously hoping to replace the shoe rack from target with a cute little wooden bench-cubby-thing, but I haven’t found anything good at tag sales yet!

{close up! gold glitter!}
{other happy little details lately}
I really believe that our surroundings affect us profoundly.
I love “making home” and “pretty-ifying” as I say 🙂
It does my heart so much good!

Good Monday Morning

{first snow + Minnetonka mocs}

Good Monday Morning, lovelies! Goodness me, I haven’t done a GMM post in forever 🙂 But where there’s sunshine, there’s happiness, and where there is happiness, there is inspiration. So, since it is a sunny morning this AM, I’ve got a GMM post for you!

~taking in the happy explosion of color and pattern in my apartment while sporting a crown braid. Vintage couch, vintage beach bag, clothes steamer, chevron satin pillows, Kaffe Fassett wool hooked rug, closet/vintage clothing explosion on left.~

I’ve had these pictures of my old apartment on my desktop since I moved, because I enjoy looking at them. The space was very happy…very Natalie. I loved that anytime someone new came over they would glance around, smile big, and say, “Natalie lives here.” I love the little corners, and thought I’d share a few with you this morning.

Also wanted to share this great, great poem by William Stafford that was the Poem of the Day from The Writer’s Almanac (psst…they have 20% off in their store with code “DANCE” today only, and that’s not an affiliate link!).

Any Morning
Just lying on the couch and being happy.

Only humming a little, the quiet sound in the head.
Trouble is busy elsewhere at the moment, it has
so much to do in the world.
People who might judge are mostly asleep; they can’t

monitor you all the time, and sometimes they forget.

When dawn flows over the hedge you can

get up and act busy.

Little corners like this, pieces of Heaven

left lying around, can be picked up and saved.

People won’t even see that you have them,

they are so light and easy to hide.

Later in the day you can act like the others.

You can shake your head. You can frown.

Have a GREAT Monday and a beautiful week!

Little Heart

I felt like blogging a little something extra tonight, my dears. Some might call that procrastination; I prefer to think of it as generosity. #tomatotomahto
I had an empty, sad little spot under my calendar wall that needed a bit of cheer. This cherry-red enamel
heart catch-all for 25 cents at a tag sale is just so spot-on, I couldn’t have found anything better if I had an unlimited budget. It is so Swedish to me, which absolutely warms my little Swedish-heritage heart. Teeny tiny clothespins also warm my heart. I mean, hello? So cute, right?
This song has been in my head!
Alright, alright, back to work now!

Three Thrifted Things Thursday

Say that ten times fast! Ha!

You’ll never believe these three things I thrifted that coordinate so well! I got such a kick out of it!

Mod 1960s-esque dress (but it’s H&M)

West Elm tray for my apartment

Coordinating clip-on earrings
I have a feeling my mom is going to want to steal all three of these things. Because she’s coming to visit today!
We shall see, we shall see. 🙂
Happy Thursday!

Vintage Lovin’

It was a fun weekend. A weekend that included ice cream, bowling, a concert, and a fair amount of reading and napping. And, last but not least:

This happy little vintage loveseat came to live with me!!
{the picture above shows it still in the thrift store}
Of course, I’m looking for some fun accessories for my funky 60s couch. I get a pitter-patter in my heart when it comes to 50s mid-century modern furniture, and I think the clean lines and simple colors would go well with the more ebullient 60’s floral. So I put together a little inspiration/dream board for the space…
green/turqoise vintage modern accessories

Everything mid-century modern is ridiculously expensive, but I am seriously considering the UO side table and the little “pouf” from Target (it’s on sale in stores). I LOVE the blue chevron rug from Urban Outfitters, too, but it’s just so pricey. Of course, this girl is on a budget. I did some antique store trekking this afternoon to get some ideas from the real-deal expensive stuff, and boy did I spend a lot of money in my mind! I’d have the coolest house!

Then, since I was dreaming, I thought: Of course I’d need an awesome outfit that coordinated with my new loveseat and decor, right?

Super loving on this color combination, and so glad I get to play with it in decor, too.

A Colorful Experiment

I’m not so sure how I feel about this outfit. I want to change something about it. Definitely the shoes. Potentially the skirt. I just didn’t have any better options. It all started with those fingernails. And then I just couldn’t help myself. Those nails and this little banner I made on my wall (the tiniest little clothespins! gah!):

{so much wonderful color}

However, I loved this while I was wearing it. Then again, while I was wearing it I was enjoying a British tea and brunch.

And a British tea brunch makes most things seem better than they really are 😛
