Crazy 60s

Good Monday Morning, lovelies! I’m so excited to share with you this week, because I finally have a bit of a creative streak back after my move. Moving really takes it outta ya! For a night out at theatre and dinner, I went for a more dramatic outfit and a certainly dramatic eye look. Tell me what you think!

That crazy eye-makeup is called split eyeliner. A technique often used in the 1960s and onstage to really define the eyes, it is very mod. It is also very heavy, and is therefore best used sparingly. But it’s a fun style to have in your makeup bag of tricks, don’t you think?

I’ve been so busy lately preparing for my move and working on a few other projects. 
I cleared my desk at work today. 
Just a phone, box of tissues, message book, and stapler remained and I packed up my favorite mug, my bowl of chocolates, my robin’s egg blue desk accessories. 
I think I’ve gone and packed up all of my words tonight, too, because I can’t find many.

Friendship

I’m feeling so happy and blessed today. It was a wonderful weekend–it was sweaty and hard work to throw a 2-day tag sale (alllllllllllll day both days), but such a blessing, too. I met some great people, had wonderful conversations, gathered so many ideas, drank a lot of coffee, enjoyed fellowship & company of friends, and was thrilled to make some gas money for my move.

I ended the weekend with a cookout and several toasted marshmallows, with more good friends!

This darling little dress? Well it is bound to become a great friend in my closet, too. I’ve worn it twice since I got it last week!

Friday morning, my french press broke. Not even the glass! I was washing it and the plunger just snapped off. Crazy. Anyway, one of my best friends is such a dear and she gifted me this HOT PINK french press. 
The best. 
Friendship is oh so dear. 
I’m already loath to leave, and start over on that front.

Yes, belt askew = obviously Natalie had a great time at a picnic party.

In all honesty, though, it was such a wonderful picnic with people I love. And while I’m not technically family, I’m totally family. Y’know? The best thing ever.  I will miss these people dearly. For the past 6 1/2 years, we have built into each other’s lives, seen triumphs and trials together, seen boyfriends/girlfriends/marriages/children/deaths…we’ve been doing life together. That’s the family of God at work. We are created for such community, and being involved in it fills a deep need in our lives, I believe. I am so thankful for that.

Joy and Shades of Pink

Rainy days call for “JOY” French “Diva-nilla” coffee. Haha. Love this cheerful polka dot coffee and polka dot, “You have filled my heart with greater joy,” Dayspring mug (check out their Good Things- Teacup and Tote Gift Set). So much extra cheerfulness for the day!
It was raining all day, so I didn’t get to take outfit pictures of this outfit “on”. But I was crushing hard on the color combo, so I wanted to be sure to share it.

I think this color combination is just wonderful! It feels sophisticated, yet youthful.  What do you think?

Extra Weekend

 This is my It’s Monday. But it’s still the ‘weekend’! expression.
With Monday being a holiday we had an extra day to wear our weekend duds! If you know me, you know that practically no weekend ensemble is complete without a splash of neon!  Monochromatic with a pop of neon is always right, but since neon is such a trend right now, it’s even more on point.

Add sparkles, stripes, braided belt, lace-edged skirt, and ‘snakeskin’ sandals for even more visual interest. 
Did you notice how this outfit is really, really simple in its foundations? It’s a tank, sweater, an ‘easy’ bottom (skirt with shorts underneath to keep things modest), and sandals.  How quickly could a tank top, sweater, and shorts look uninspired and boring? Mixing up the details are what really make the outfit stand out.

Lime Green and Sequins

This is what I wore to a rock concert. Uhhhh….errrrrr….by “rock concert” I mean “Four-year-old’s Birthday Party.” Kinda the same thing. Lime green, sequins, and neon. My pink and green even (inadvertently) matched the Strawberry Shortcake theme colors!

This little four-year-old? Well, she’s stylin’. That’s her pink leopard raincoat hanging behind my purse. Do they make that in adult sizes?

 But lest you think I’m just another one of those girls with a hot date and a mushy love story, let me say: I’m not. I don’t have a date at all. I don’t have a love story (yet). My heart? Well, it will be hidden in God, tonight, as I relish the love HE puts in my life, that HE showers me with. It amazes me. God has overfilled my cup with love, and for that, I am entirely grateful. It is absolutely worth celebrating. I was never one to be down on a day of celebrating love. {but if you do need a broken-heart sad-song, I’d recommend this one, neverminding the video, just the song}

So tonight I’ll spend some time communing with God. Yes, I’ll probably watch a sappy romantic movie and drown my sorrows in some chocolate. But reading my Bible makes my soul and heart sing. It makes me want to be a better woman, a better friend, sister, daughter. It fills me with hope.
