For the Love of Fuschia

thursday 008b
I am the queen of awkward outfit photos, don’t mind me. They’re a slight bit fuzzy because I also move at the last second and it’s hopeless. I mean, I don’t know why the paparazzi aren’t following me around snapping glamorous photos all the time, but in the meantime, I’m stuck with me, my tripod and my self-timer.
Aside from that, I’m just super into this rolled-jeans and leopard-smoking-slippers look, right?! Divine for fall.
thursday 011
And a gold exposed zipper on this wool tulip-hem shell from J.Crew is so good. Sooooo good.
thursday 003
Of course, a fuschia 60s-style jacket and some fuschia lipstick top it all off as the icing on the monochromatic-outfit-cake.
In other news, I just spilled my entire fresh cup of coffee on the rug/floor, so there’s that. I just felt you should know that so we could share the sadness in solidarity.
Also, here’s a little happy ditty for you today to make you smile.
“What a day for feelin’ alive!”

Has it not been just the most gorgeous October?
This girl thinks so!

Autumn

{ballet-like shoes in leaves}

{vintage-y jacket all cozy-like}

{wind in my hairz}
I tried to put together a lot of words tonight, but words aren’t working so well for me. So instead I’ll just tell you that I had a pumpkin latte today and it was delicious, and I love these shoes and crunchy piles of leaves.

Sunny & Seventies

That title’s a play on words. Since it’s been in the 70s all week, gorgeous and lovely, I decided to go with a 70s-themed outfit.
Because everyone matches the theme of their outfit to the weather, right?
{no?}

Big hat, big sunnies, big hair, big sleeves. Higher-waisted jeans.
I really would have loved being a 20-something in the 70s, I have no doubt.
I’m sure I could rock gold lame and Disco Fever.

I wonder what this decade’s (the teens) defining characteristics will be. What do you think?
Modern Luxe or Hipster Grunge?

Possibilities

In a new town, everything seems like a possibility.
I kid you not, in the past week, I have Google-d and decided I was absolutely going to try rock climbing, trampoline exercise classes, and being a mystery shopper.
See, the problem is, there’s a disconnect. I can’t recreate my old life here. I must become a slightly, somehow different version of myself, just by the nature of moving. And while everything seems to be a possibility, I don’t want to lose my center of gravity either.
Who are we kidding here? A trampoline exercise class would make me, at best, extremely dizzy and probably motion-sick.
So I guess I’ll keep on working on it.
And in the meantime, there’s still a small chance I’ll see you at trampoline exercise class.
What?!

Orange & Blue

I got these orange jeans and was’t quite sure how to style them until I saw this picture. I just had to recreate this outfit as soon as possible! I’m so glad I did because this is one of my favorite outfits. It just felt really, really great to wear, and perfect for spring. You know those kinds of outfits? They really make the whole day seem better, don’t you think? Now I hardly want to take these orange jeans off. I’ve worn them twice so far, and just threw ’em in the wash, so I can’t wait to wear them again. I never would have thought in a million years that orange jeans would become my new favorite!

Jean Suit

It’s all in the details. This outfit could go casual very quickly–trade the heels for flats, throw off the jacket and scarf, and you’ve got cute-summer-weekend in the bag. But some blue suede heels, a metallic blue scarf, a beautifully tailored denim blazer, and a blue bauble necklace (under the scarf; I forgot to take a picture!) really make the diffrence. As do painted fingernails, some rings, clean/shiny/straight/bangs-behaving-well hair and makeup. The details. These mirrored aviators make my life more fun. Dug ’em out of the $1 bin at the thrift store. They are missing one nose pad, but eh–how much does that matter, really? One less nose pad mark when I take them off! Ha!
{suppose I could get one of those $3 eyeglass repair kits, huh?}

Ice Queen

I’m not sure I’m ever going to take my “crown” off, guys. Like, ever. Okay.
And yes, I might be wearing ice blue eyeliner, and totally loving it.
I had the inspiration to wear this necklace as “ice baubles” and the “ice blue” eyeliner for a fun photoshoot I did, and just loved it so much I had to wear it out.
This amazing metal bauble necklace is one of my favorite purchases! I actually snagged it at a Von Maur the night before my photoshoot with Life:Beautiful magazine. It was $12, and I would pay every penny of that again just to wear it on my head like this one more time. I love it! We even used it in the photoshoot for the magazine. You can see it below, after one of the clever LB team girls turned it into a bracelet. I took a note from their cleverness and turned it into a hair piece! Who would have thought?!
And it’s kinda famous, having been in a magazine and all.
But enough about my necklace/bracelet/hairpiece (WHICH I LOVE!!!!!! And I’m not going to take it off!)….ok, now that’s really enough.
I’m going to stop now.
Also, I have no idea why I’m looking to the sky in both of those photos.
