Country Girl Natalie

It’s so funny. Today my friend sent over this picture, and said, “If you go fishing, this is how I envision you’ll look.” I just had to laugh and say, “I was playing country girl yesterday and I wore a very similar outfit.” See:

We were experiencing the remnants of Hurricane Isaac, so it was rain & fog on and off all day. This outfit took me from the office to the farm perfectly well!

I’m telling you: A farm bathed in fog, wrapped in love, warmed with the happiness of old friends…it was wonderful. It was just what I needed: a tour of the lush vegetable garden, a good romp with the new little baby cow, and collecting eggs in a red pail. We enjoyed a dinner composed of everything fresh from the farm, served in cast iron, with linen napkins and monogrammed silver. In the quiet after dinner, we started to catch up on life. Old friends need to do that, you know? To sit, and stare at the last of the beeswax candles burning down into the silver candlesticks, and to say to each other, “So, how are you?” in a voice that begs the real answer.
The night ended with a round of hugs from some of the best hug-givers I know, and the most precious gift of a beautiful, beautiful cake plate. I will cherish it.

See how the dress has little gold polka-dots? So cute.
Just because I happen to like fashion doesn’t mean I don’t LOVE a good “country girl” day. Oh yes, I love a good Country Girl Day. And I absolutely adore this certain family who occasionally takes me in as one of their own, lets me play country girl, feeds me, encourages me, and sends me on my way, bearing the most beautiful gifts and a heart full of inspiration and happiness.
Thank you.

Thursday Brights

Good Morning!

I hope you have a beautiful, bright Thursday, friends.
One that refreshes you with detailed love from God’s heart, shown to you through friends, family, and even strangers. I just love when God uses strangers in my life for a very specific purpose. Do you know what I mean? When you’re feeling sorry for yourself and you go to get a coffee on your lunch break, and you have the best conversation with the barista, who gives you your coffee for free? Or you can’t think of ANYONE to take over your nursery shift on Friday, but then a friend calls and asks if she can take your shift that day if you’ll cover hers on Sunday morning? Or your boss happened to stay late last night and leave a nice note on your desk? I think all of those details are love that God brings into our lives, to show us how much he cares. To lift our hearts and spirits. Oh, how much he loves us, through and through.
And in light of that, I just have to throw my hands with hot pink and silver fingernails in the air.
Blessings back to praise,
ALWAYS.

Have a great day!

Remember that Day…

Remember that day I accidentally poured orange juice over my cereal instead of milk?
Yeah, no, I don’t remember that either…
Remember that day I woke up and inadvertently dressed like the Swedish flag?
That day was today.

Something Swedish has been on my mind for awhile…and my subconscious must be picking up on it…

Sending me into my closet for every gold & blue piece I own…

…even turning a dress into a skirt…

and finding that my ring and fingernails complete the picture.
I may not be blonde, but I sure am Swedish!
{sometimes I act blonde and pour orange juice over my cereal instead of milk. so that counts, right?}

Weekend

Weekend Gear: Coffee, sunnies, hat, wrinkly sundress, flip flops!
After Saturday morning tag sales, it rained non-stop.
So instead of outdoor adventuring, I enjoyed a low-key weekend around the house.

Manicure/pedicure essentials…

Pretty pink toesies! (and yellow fingernails)
Hanna Andersson clogs
Supplies for a fun paper project I’m working on.
Baked some ginger-chocolate chunk scones. Mmm! Sent some over to a dear friend packaged like this.
Now, it’s into the week!
Let’s begin it beautifully, yeah?
xo!

Things Of Late

How’s your summer going?
Mine has been wonderful so far!
Here are a few snaps of what’s been going on lately…
I’m TOTALLY smitten with a crown braid:
These outfit pics were all overexposed, but this dress is so much fun. Strangely, I feel it has a Sound of Music vibe to it…
I’ve been doing some travelling, which for me means “tattoo”ing myself with words like “Sovereign” to combat anxiety and wearing SeaBands. Oh boy.

I finally did the seafoam/yellow nail polish combo, and it’s so cute! Also, these GoPicnics are my favorite thing to eat while travelling. Gluten-free and fantastic. I can’t say enough good things about them.
This beautiful drink is delicious. And the bottle’s a keeper!
Been brewin’ up lots of iced coffee:
{cold-brew = only way to go}
Playing tennis:
My friend said, “You look like a piece of candy.”
Hahahaha. That’d be me.
Looking like a piece of candy.
No big deal.
Also, tennis is one of those things I always wanted to be amazing at…and never got past “halfways-decent.” Or, as the same friend said, “We’re below amateurs.” And I said, “What’s below amateurs?”
“Losers.”
Haha.
On that note, my dears, have a wonderful day!!
xo!

Ladylike Lace

Someone told me I looked like I should be walking down the streets of Paris in this outfit.
Sounds good to me! Laduree and the Louvre and L’Opera Paris are all missing me.

Until then, I can walk around the streets of my New England town and say, “Oui,” and “Non,” and shake my head a lot. That seemed to be how the Parisians do things. Oui?

Fingernails a’la TiffaMade! Gah I love them. So like the colors of the macarons at Laduree.
{darling website; do visit it. and, of course, the Paris tea room is stunning, too}
For my hair, I tried one large victory roll on the back. It’s sort of like a reverse Gibson tuck.
Maybe it’s a Natalie tuck. Or a Natalie roll. It’s a Natalie Tuck & Roll.
There.
Sounds so sophisticated, non
😉

Oops

Somehow this photo got deleted from my previous outfit post. I totally love this dark silver shade. Also: it’s called Gray’s Anatomy. Hehe. {by Wet n Wild} One of the saddest parts of the summer is that all of my {all = two} favorite TV shows are on hiatus. But they are replaced by um…real life? Swimming in the river, farmer’s market, creamies after work, and, my fave: garage sales! {i’m a dork}
