Good Monday Morning

{first snow + Minnetonka mocs}

Good Monday Morning, lovelies! Goodness me, I haven’t done a GMM post in forever 🙂 But where there’s sunshine, there’s happiness, and where there is happiness, there is inspiration. So, since it is a sunny morning this AM, I’ve got a GMM post for you!

~taking in the happy explosion of color and pattern in my apartment while sporting a crown braid. Vintage couch, vintage beach bag, clothes steamer, chevron satin pillows, Kaffe Fassett wool hooked rug, closet/vintage clothing explosion on left.~

I’ve had these pictures of my old apartment on my desktop since I moved, because I enjoy looking at them. The space was very happy…very Natalie. I loved that anytime someone new came over they would glance around, smile big, and say, “Natalie lives here.” I love the little corners, and thought I’d share a few with you this morning.

Also wanted to share this great, great poem by William Stafford that was the Poem of the Day from The Writer’s Almanac (psst…they have 20% off in their store with code “DANCE” today only, and that’s not an affiliate link!).

Any Morning
Just lying on the couch and being happy.

Only humming a little, the quiet sound in the head.
Trouble is busy elsewhere at the moment, it has
so much to do in the world.
People who might judge are mostly asleep; they can’t

monitor you all the time, and sometimes they forget.

When dawn flows over the hedge you can

get up and act busy.

Little corners like this, pieces of Heaven

left lying around, can be picked up and saved.

People won’t even see that you have them,

they are so light and easy to hide.

Later in the day you can act like the others.

You can shake your head. You can frown.

Have a GREAT Monday and a beautiful week!

Falling

This city has yet to really impress me.

But this weekend…well…I might be falling for it a little bit.
See, I realized something.

This city owes me nothing. In fact, it has no idea who I am. It won’t draw my name out of a hat and invite me to hold the golden key to the city.
I must fall for it.
I must find the moments and the places that make me come alive here. I must find the space I wish to inhabit within this city, and I must inhabit it.
No one else can give that to me.
I have to thrift it along with vintage clothes, write it at coffee shops along with poems, and I must embrace it along with my family.
In time, I will snowshoe along the banks of its frozen lakes, and I will think quietly in my heart:
I have found peace.
And I have found a place here.

Check, Please!

This was such a happy day.

One of the summer days where you can say with relish, “Check, please!” at the diner of life, having enjoyed the day fully, every moment of it, soaked up deeply for safekeeping. You stretch backwards a bit, full of happiness, and say, “That was one of the best days I’ve had in a long time,” as if Sunday afternoon adventuring were the blue plate special.
Can you believe this dress is vintage? Looks like it’s brand-spankin’-new. So many people commented on this dress! I think it’s just fun, fun, fun. I adore it’s yellow bows and kick pleats.
Perfect for late-summer adventuring.
You can tell this is the dress I was wearing in my photobooth pictures (that I used in my new blog design! What do you think?)
yellow daisy earrings and yellow fingernail polish
 {and pure sugar lemonade from Wendy’s, which I actually totally love}
I’m feeling quiet of spirit tonight–feeling a little bit ill, exhausted, and drained. Not the best way to start the week. But my best friend’s little boy told her out of the blue, “I want to take Natalie to Seattle!” (they were visiting there a week ago). She asked him, “Why?” and he said, “I want to show her around!”
Well, I tell you, who needs a boyfriend when you can be Auntie to such a sweetie-pie?!?!
Melted my heart.
Have a great week!

Hello Sunshine

I dug out some of my summer dresses the other day, just to play around with them before it gets too hot to style them with any sweaters/scarves (boooooooooring). I found this yellow dress coordinated perfectly with a little cardigan I found at the thrift store last fall. It’s fun to see pieces from different seasons mix so effortlessly, don’t you think?
And that beautiful forsythia! Welcome, spring!
