Mango and Plum

mangopurple3b

I can’t get enough of this mango and deep plum color combination. It’s also a delicious flavor combination, so win-win, amiright?

Then let’s talk about these giant pearls I’ve been wanting forever and finally found at a tag sale last weekend! So much fun and a little Wilma Flinstone-esque as my friend said, but we all know that’s never stopped me before!

Then there’s this Holga camera that matches my outfit. I’m pretty sure it ups my cool points but then again maybe not considering it took me FOREVER to learn how to open the back where you put the film in. Either way, I hope to capture some funky summer images with this little plastic camera.

Sequins, Scallops, and Eyelet

This feels like such a true “Natalie” outfit–pulled together, sophisticated, but still very youthful and playful.

Fun colors, textures switches, and ladylike silhouettes.
Fun sunnies, one of my favorite vintage bags…
Everyone dies over this bag. Some ladies were saying they wanted the pattern as wallpaper. Sign me up, too!

Then of course I picked up this navy hat with a ZIPPER edge (which matches the zippers on the back of my boots) and resistance was futile. Love a good fall hat!

Sequins & Cords

I’m just not sure. Not sure at all.
Well, I mean, I’m sure I love sequins, corduroys, and ruffled wool cardigans.

I’m also entirely sure that I love the color combination of mint and cantaloupe/peach.
Totally a winner.

But here’s what I’m not sure of:
“BE STILL before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.”
Psalm 37:7a

To be still. To be patient. These are virtues that are utterly difficult for this stubborn, hurting heart of mine.
But these are virtues He is calling me to.
He is inviting me into His presence as I wait.
He invites His darlings to come, and wait, and watch.
To hope.
To expect miracles.
To adore Him in silence.
To pour out the oil of our inner hearts by worshipping Him in presence and patience.
Not to be doormats. Not to be unable to make decisions. Not to be silenced.
But to be laying down control, so we may pick up contentment.
I want now. But You want WHOLE for me. I want here. But You want BEST for me. I want more. But You want ALL for me.
My stubborn, selfish heart wants now, here, and more.
Father, You have whole, best, and all for me.
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under Heaven.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1

May I wait with purpose, patiently, in your presence, pouring out my spirit so that I may be filled with Yours.

Peach and Fair Isle

A pretty peach dress and a big old fair isle sweater. Perfect for a cold, sunny day.
These are merino wool tights and they keep me nice and toasty! Love them so  much!
And such a pretty bubble necklace.
Halfway through the week, my friends 🙂
Almost Valentine’s Day!
It stays light until almost 6 o’clock!
Happy things 🙂

Wearing Hats Part 5: Peach Feather Hat

Hat Four: Peach with Pearls, Bow & Feather

Today was fabulous. Fabulous, I tell you.
This morning I jumped out of bed for coffee and a cherry-almond-streusal muffin. Nothing like a good breakfast to get me out of bed! Then I spent the day…being me. Y’know? One of those days where you’re doing your THANG, and no one’s going to stop you? That’s right. Gotta love it!
So many wonderful things today.
My heart is full.
But I’m sad that “Hat Week” is coming to an end. What did you think of the outfits? Were you inspired to rock a vintage hat?

Hat Number Two: Vintage Peach Petal Hat
Sometimes I wonder: Is this too much?

I wonder that with a lot of things. Flourishes in my handwriting, exclamation points in my typing, vintage-ness in my outfits?
I think:
Oh, goodness, well, maybe I’m doing things wrong. Maybe it’s all just too much.
Maybe I need to get rid of flourishes, exclamation points, and vintage-ness.

Or, maybe, just maybe,
The real questions are:
Do I have enough love in my heart?
Light in my eyes?
Happiness in the morning?
And when the answer to those questions are YES, the answers to the other questions are NO, because the flourishes/exclamation points/vintage-ness are outpourings of the love/light/happiness.
I think that’s a beautiful thing.
