Metallic Nails

Metallic nails seem to be the new “it-color” for the upcoming season. Fine by me, because I think dark metallic nails are chic, chic, chic, and so easy to wear with winter colors and textures.

From InStyle, October 2011
{The cap on this nail polish is rolled on the surface to give the unique texture, which mine did NOT do}

{matches my sweats 100%}

Mine: Rite-Aid, $1.99
Theirs: Sephora, Nails, Inc., $16.00
Saved: $14.01

I was so surprised to see two items nearly identical to items already in my own closet in the month’s issue of InStyle and the latest (fantastic!!! drool-worthy, of course!) J.Crew catalogue. I just had to show you! It was uncanny!

Left: J. Crew, $285…..Right: Mine, F21 a few seasons ago, $25
Savings: $260
Closeness match: 75% (theirs are leather and have a slight platform)
The heels on mine are almost identical. You can see them in an outfit in this post!
Left: Burgundy w/ wooden handle Gucci, $2,990.00 (inset is vintage carried by French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy), featured in October 2011 InStyle p. 145
Right: Mine, vintage Henri Bendel, $10
Savings: $2,980.00
Closeness Match: 75%
The bags are strikingly similar, with the clasps, handle, color, and shape. The wooden handles on InStyle’s are bamboo, mine is carved wood, but it still has the similar indentations

Goodness, gracious, see, I just saved, ohhhhhhh……$2,945.00.
This is such satisfying ‘shopping’!

I’ve been really wanting a nude patent belt with gold accents to add to my wardrobe. I’ve been stalking them on J.Crew and Ann Taylor. This particular J.Crew one is my favorite:

I’ve been checking the belt section at my local thrift store, trying to find something close. And I think I hit the jackpot:
My version: Salvation Army, genuine leather, 99 cents
Can’t wait to throw it over some fall dresses!! Remember: everything old is new again, so you can find just about any trend in a thrift store if you look. That’s one reason I love thrifting!

Or Target, you know, but Target and my closet are practically one and the same. {but these are actually in my closet}

Anywhoo—take a look at these gorgeous suede babies…

Gorg, right? Wear with everything sort of shoe. Welp, I happened to pick some up at Target this spring that are almost identical.

Mine, Target clearance, $8
{Target currently has a version for $30 that is even more similar to the J.Crew version because it doesn’t have the side-stitching. View it here. And check out the low version I’m wanting in purple for fall)

I absolutely love mine and wear them all the time, and didn’t even know J. Crew had a version until my bestie pointed it out. These have definitely already earned a favorite spot in my shoe rotation. I’ve worn them on the blog here {Royalty and a Commoner} and here {Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough}, two of my favorite outfits in recent months. And they look high-end, too? Extra score.

Pretty sure I saved myself $220 by buying the Target version. {boyfriend, did you read that?}

I was cruising around the J. Crew factory store online shop this weekend (they have some steals right now, girls!) and came across this cute little tank, which I loved:

And then I realized that I liked it so much because, in fact, I already owned a nearly identical version:

I wore it in one of my favorite recent outfits (you can see it here):

While the J. Crew version is very cute, and tempting, it rings up at $14.50 on clearance from $26.50. My version? Charlotte Russe clearance, for $2.98. I think today, I’ll shop my closet, and come up with more cute ways to appreciate my years-old J.Crew-look-alike 🙂 And maybe treat myself to a coffee since, obviously, I just saved $11.52 (plus shipping), hehe.
