Bows & Boots & Plaid

Bow + Plaid.
Rain.
Still.
I’m not unhappy, just short on words.
They were washed away, I think.
Over and out!

Happy Colors

Back to rain.

I think orange pants, a light pink lace top, and pink/orange accessories are called for, don’t you?

So I’m still smiling. You can’t get me down (yet) rain!

Necklaces.
Pile on the brights while we wait for that sunshine again!

Ballet, Rhubarb, and Lily of the Valley

{There is a part of me that will always be a dancer, and it’s a part I cherish}
{ Turn, turn, turn in ballet skirt & chiffon sleeves}

{Half-bun with antique key hair pin}

{Hiking boo-boo & sad face}
{A bouquet of rhubarb!}
{Rhubarb pie shared with a dear friend & a real bouquet of Lily of the Valley}
This feels like a celebration of so many things I love! Ballet, rhubarb, and Lily of the Valley…I’m feeling extraordinarily blessed.
My own happiness is fragile and fleeting, but the Lord’s freedom and joy in my life are what fill my cup to overflowing.
Thank you, Lord, for YOUR joy and provision in my life. For lovely people who gift me a bouquet of rhubarb. For inspirational mentors to share a meal & rhubarb pie. And for dear friends who offer me sweet, sweet Lily of the Valley.
Thank you, too, for the spirit within me that loves to dance, and for the rediscovery of that pleasure, if only in my yard and living room 😉
All I can think is one of my favorite hymns…“He’s the Lily of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star, He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.”

Rain & A Tulip

It has been raining. Raining, raining, raining. Did I mention it’s been raining? So I only have one good photo of this outfit! Rain has a way of dampening the spirit–either in a really wonderful, introspective way, or a really un-wonderful, demotivating way. Tonight, I’m feeling a bit demotivated. Sunshine?
Suuuuuuuuunshine?
Ooo! The week is halfway over! Go us 🙂

Rainy Day Movie Pairings

Oh rain, rain. It seems to have become a trend here in New England to rain all week, and become sunny on the weekends. While I certainly won’t complain, lest it reverse its tactics, rain does make a workweek a little tough to get through. So tonight I’m sharing some of my favorite movie & snack pairings! These are the favorites I reach for on a rainy night…
A Vacation of a Film:
Roman Holiday
with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck
1953
Snack Choice: Gelato or chocolate ice cream while snuggled up in a warm blanket on the couch (fire optional), so you can pretend it’s a warm summer day in Rome.
An Always-Inspiring Classic:
image from filming found here
The Sound of Music
with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer
1965
Snack Choice: Wiener schnitzel and apple studel would be top choices. Barring that, grab a box of Pepperidge Farm frozen apple turnovers (I loved these before I was GF). A nice rich hot chocolate topped with whipped cream is a nice treat, too. Or try the pink lemonade that so bemused Max and the Captain!
A Laughable, Adorable Favorite:
That Darn Cat
with Hayley Mills
1965
Snack Choice: This is a good movie for some good old-fashioned buttery popcorn! Grab some Newman’s Own..it’s my current favorite.
A Go-Getter Movie for the Rest of the Week:
Legally Blonde
with Reese Witherspoon
2001
Snack Choice: Anything pink, sweet, and sugary!
Snuggle up and enjoy!

Bright Mother’s Day

All anyone had to say about this outfit was, “Bright!” They lost their ability to speak in complete sentences because apparently this outfit is so “Bright!” and distracting like a shiny object to a toddler. They would point, jaw down, “Bright!” And I am only slightly exaggerating 🙂
I’m totally into yellow as of late…and it’s a color I never thought I could wear. The conclusion thus far is that as long as it is warm yellow–mustardy—then I can wear it. When my mom was here we did an experiment and all of my cool yellows looked significantly better on her skin tone, so off they went in her suitcase.
What do you think about this in-between yellow? Is it quite right or quite wrong?

Good Morning!

Who has the cutest new mug on the block? This girl! Hehe. Love my new strawberry mug, so summer-y! This morning, I’m drinking Tazo “Passion” tea.
It has been a very busy week here, how about you? I can hardly believe it’s Friday already! Feels like the pace of life is picking up again, and I suppose I can’t complain. It’s good to have down-times and it’s good to have busy-times.
Have a great day, my dears!

Good Days

I’ve decided there’s an easy formula for a good spring day. A full skirt and wellies. Done deal 🙂
You know those conversations that you can only get to after a nice dinner, sweet dessert, and a cup of tea or two? It was a night for that kind of conversation. A night where you can dig down and share life. Fellowship is so sweet! Try to carve out some talking time with a friend or two this week to dig into life a bit more. I know sometimes it seems that we don’t have time for talking. What a waste of time when you could be accomplishing something! Or blogging/tweeting/etc., right? Oh, how wrong we are, sometimes. Sit on the porch with a friend. Sit and talk. And listen.
You’ll be amazed, I know it.

Skirt & Wellies

Hello!

Goodness, I had a happy day! Did you? I sure hope so.

Give me some sunshine, a little caffeine, a circle skirt, and some wellies, and I am one HAPPY girl!

There’s just something about a dress or a skirt paired with wellies–so charming, off-handed, country-sunshine-girl don’t you think? This outfit makes me want to go pick strawberries! Alas, I think it is too early for that in New England (but it is strawberry season in Florida!).

Have a great week!
