NEW Warby Parker Frame Home Try-On

This post contains affiliate links 🙂
Have you tried Warby Parker’s Home Try-On service? It’s FREE (you do need to add a credit card juuuuust in case you don’t return them on time), and you get to choose 5 frames, sent to your house, to try on. I cannot even tell you how important this is in the world of buying glasses online. I’ve bought many frames online, as well as many in-store, and there is nothing like being able to try a frame on, to feel it, to see how it molds to your face. Dimensions online are all good and well, but it’s hard to know how those dimensions match up on YOUR face. Even uploading a picture of yourself so they can superimpose the frame on your face is not a great option.
Every few seasons I order a box from Warby Parker and show you the frames, to give you an idea of how they look on a real person, with a heart-shaped face, brown hair, green eyes, and 80 million layers because it’s January in New England. This time, the frames I chose were: Welty (Whiskey Tortoise), Rosemary (Rose Crystal), Sims (Petal Tortoise), Millie (Birch Tortoise), and Turner (Chestnut Crystal). Without further ado…

This frame they sent me was very crooked, so I had to tilt my face differently to get it to look sort of normal 😉 It looks like this frame may not currently be available in the petal color.

I actually like ALL of them, which is unusual for me. I think my favorites are the Rosemary Rose Crystal and the Turner in Chestnut Crystal. The crystal ones seem to be the winners this time around! Which makes me happy, because I’ve had my fair share of dark, heavy frames lately. I wasn’t interested in trying any of the wire-framed ones quite yet…they’re still a bit too hipster for me, and besides, I had ones very similar to those during all of my elementary school years, and I’m not sure I’m ready to relive those, ha.
Which do you like better for me? Do you have any of these frames? I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments!
Don’t forget to order your own FREE at-home try-on box from Warby Parker…you’ll love it!

It’s that time again! Time to try a new batch of Warby Parker’s deliciously quirky and writer-y glasses. Warby Parker’s Winter 2015 Collection Oh what fun it is to tryyyyy on WarbyParkerglassses! (you have to sing it like that to make it fit into the Christmas song but hey! why not!)
(this is NOT a sponsored post but clicking on these links may earn me a commission at no cost to you–thanks for supporting GGS!)
My best friend and I both ordered Home Try-On program boxes, so here you get to see me try on NINE!!!! options 🙂 (one just looked so very terrible on me that I couldn’t even share the photo, sorry friends! for reference it was the Nedwin in lime green).

I have a HEART-SHAPED FACE for glasses if you’re trying to choose glasses for your face shape.(To find yours, stand in front of the mirror and trace your face with lipstick or a dry erase marker directly on the mirror (pull your hair back first).

So these are my picks from the Warby Parker Winter 2015 collection for heart-shaped faces and brunette hair. See past picks here and here

Here they are, in alphabetical order:

New Firmoo Glasses & Sweater

I’m feeling Spring-y with my super fun retro-y new glasses from Firmoo.com. They are a lovely magenta-red that rolls into a soft creamy translucent color, with some fun vintage metal “arrows” on the corners. I’ve received several compliments on these already, and my mom said, “Take your old glasses off immediately and wear these instead.” Ha! Yes, mom!

I also took my new vintage-style jumper from London (sweater, hehe) for a spin in the Spring sun (don’t be fooled, it was still cold). I could NOT resist this darling little sweater. It’s absolutely SO 1950s-school-teacher-Laverne-&-Shirley-esque which I ADORE. So especially fun with my new glasses.

The sweater is a tad on the short side, so I tucked a nude cami in underneath it (which helps with the sheerness, too), so don’t worry, you aren’t seeing my tummy. They call this shirt a “one size” but I’m not sure how they think this is one-size, since if you were any bit bigger than me, it wouldn’t fit. Bummer.

I love these magenta high heel smoking slippers. They are just so fun and unexpected. The multi-strand pearl bracelet has gotten so much wear since I received it from my boyfriend’s mom for my birthday a few months ago.

I popped a little green velvet hair bow at the top of my bun, too, for an extra dash of charm. One can never have too many “dashes of charm.”
I’m so pleased with my retro-styled glasses from Firmoo.com. The quality is top-notch and they are beautiful. The price can’t be beat and the quality is definitely there. I definitely recommend them!

Happy almost-Spring!

New Specs and a GlassesUSA Review

I need new glasses, ya’ll.
So these are my current/old glasses. Horn-rim Chaps, oval, get the job done.
But it is time for an update.
I really wasn’t sure how to go about this process, since it’s always so difficult to choose new glasses. But I decided to try one of these online glasses places, and be brave. When GlassesUSA contacted me to do a review of a pair of glasses, I jumped on board! I’d been eyeing (ha, I crack myself up) their site anyway, so it was a great fit.
I don’t just need glasses, you see (clever me, all the puns). I don’t need just frames, or readers. I need prescription glasses. Like, Coke-bottle glasses. Really-really-really thick glasses. Hazardous-to-my-health-AND-your-health blind without my glasses. Such is life. So I always have to get the primo lenses (read, expensive), so saving on the frames is a MUST for my budget. GlassesUSA eyeglasses are a great buy, and their clearance/sales/coupons section is also worth a look.
Here are my two picks (I purchased one pair with my own money and the other one partially with a GlassesUSA.com credit):
Muller in Brown
Personal Shopper in Blue
I made a video to show you the frames in person and tell you a little more about my experience:
I love the lucite and tortoise sides of the Nicole Miller Personal Shopper.
Muller has metal and crystal detailing.
GlassesUSA is always offering crazy-good discount codes, so check out their Facebook and Twitter pages for exclusive discounts. You can also use the code: Blog10 for a 10% discount. You can also try their new Virtual Try-On feature. This wasn’t available when I chose my frames, but I highly recommend giving it a try.

They have a 110% lowest-price guarantee and 100% money-back guarantee, so you’re safe no matter what you decide. Overall, if you need to buy glasses, I’d say GlassesUSA is a great place to update your look!

Soooooo now the question is, should I keep them? Just one? Which one? Both?
And which frames are YOU eyeing?

PS> We’re not talking about the craziness that is my bangs in these photos right now, ok? They’re not chopped weird, I promise, they were just being weird. #whoknows

Chambray Confession

You know how sometimes, everyone has something, so you resist getting one for no good reason other than principle? And then it goes on crazy-sale at J.Crew and you decide to just test the waters and see why everyone was going so crazy. And the minute you slip on the chambray shirt, you get it
Totally not talking about myself here.
Ahem.

Well, no matter. I jumped on the chambray shirt bandwagon, my friends, and boy am I sure glad! I have no doubt you’ll be seeing this shirt a lot. And if you might have happened to be like me, uneasy about why everyone was going crazy over a denim shirt, don’t worry. It’s absolutely wonderful, I promise.

And while I’m reppin’ J.Crew just ’cause, this outfit definitely reminds me of something out of their catalogue. Stripes, chambray, glasses, a giant cocktail ring, ankle-zip cords, and bright blue suede pumps?
That has J.Crew-bandwagon written allllllll over it.

Textures

This outfit is jam-packed with texture. A metal necklace, a silk shirt, a cotton scarf, a tweed jacket, corduroys, and suede wedges.

I’ve been thinking today how God sometimes takes things from us for a season.
Our God who gives and takes.
Do you know what I mean?

Sometimes God says, “Here, you know what? We’re going to take this thing and put it on the shelf for a bit. Let’s focus on something else for a little while.”
This feels so scary. It feels very unsettling.
But the cool thing is, our God is a detail-oriented God.
And oftentimes, He takes things we thought got shelved, and He works them back into our lives in the coolest ways.
You know, He works them together like mixing different textures. It may sound silly, but its true…He puts together our lives with the finesse of a God who cares about the details. A God who cares about the beautiful big picture.
Oh I just love that.

Bows & Boots & Plaid

Bow + Plaid.
Rain.
Still.
I’m not unhappy, just short on words.
They were washed away, I think.
Over and out!

Rain & A Tulip

It has been raining. Raining, raining, raining. Did I mention it’s been raining? So I only have one good photo of this outfit! Rain has a way of dampening the spirit–either in a really wonderful, introspective way, or a really un-wonderful, demotivating way. Tonight, I’m feeling a bit demotivated. Sunshine?
Suuuuuuuuunshine?
Ooo! The week is halfway over! Go us 🙂
