NEW Warby Parker Frame Home Try-On

This post contains affiliate links 🙂
Have you tried Warby Parker’s Home Try-On service? It’s FREE (you do need to add a credit card juuuuust in case you don’t return them on time), and you get to choose 5 frames, sent to your house, to try on. I cannot even tell you how important this is in the world of buying glasses online. I’ve bought many frames online, as well as many in-store, and there is nothing like being able to try a frame on, to feel it, to see how it molds to your face. Dimensions online are all good and well, but it’s hard to know how those dimensions match up on YOUR face. Even uploading a picture of yourself so they can superimpose the frame on your face is not a great option.
Every few seasons I order a box from Warby Parker and show you the frames, to give you an idea of how they look on a real person, with a heart-shaped face, brown hair, green eyes, and 80 million layers because it’s January in New England. This time, the frames I chose were: Welty (Whiskey Tortoise), Rosemary (Rose Crystal), Sims (Petal Tortoise), Millie (Birch Tortoise), and Turner (Chestnut Crystal). Without further ado…

This frame they sent me was very crooked, so I had to tilt my face differently to get it to look sort of normal 😉 It looks like this frame may not currently be available in the petal color.

I actually like ALL of them, which is unusual for me. I think my favorites are the Rosemary Rose Crystal and the Turner in Chestnut Crystal. The crystal ones seem to be the winners this time around! Which makes me happy, because I’ve had my fair share of dark, heavy frames lately. I wasn’t interested in trying any of the wire-framed ones quite yet…they’re still a bit too hipster for me, and besides, I had ones very similar to those during all of my elementary school years, and I’m not sure I’m ready to relive those, ha.
Which do you like better for me? Do you have any of these frames? I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments!
Don’t forget to order your own FREE at-home try-on box from Warby Parker…you’ll love it!

New Firmoo Glasses + New Coat

Oh the little things in life are so good, ya’ll, so good. New glasses make such a HUGE difference for a girl’s confidence and selfie-game #amiright?! I was about to grab some new Warbys when Firmoo reached out and I just couldn’t resist getting a pair from them.

Then throw in my CRAZY-AMAZING new J.Crew Stadium Cloth coat and a girl is
all sorts of heart-eyes gahhhhhhhhh.

Super in love with this cognac and tomato color combo, aren’t you digging it? This is a thrifted vintage Hanae Mori handbag that is so much fun. The handle on top makes it.

Now, these Firmoo glasses. I’m loving them. Firmoo glasses are always high-quality. My last glasses are Firmoo, too, and they’ve both been great quality frames. While it can be a bit hard to decide online, the prices are so low, even if your pick isn’t a total-win, it’s not the end of the world. I’m still deciding how much I like these, but they grow on me daily. I was looking for something more “writer-y” and I think these nail that vibe. These frames are $19, ya’ll. There’s no arguing with that.

How good is red lipstick + writer-y glasses + fur hood?

Thanks, Firmoo!

Warby Parker Home Try-On Winter 2014

(this post is sponsored and contains affiliate links that help support Good Girl Style at no extra charge to you!)

It was high time I gave the Warby Parker Home Try-On Program another go with some old favorites and some new frames from the Winter 2014 Collection. If you’re eyeing some new eyeglasses or sunglasses for the holiday season and brand-new year ahead, I highly recommend Warby Parker.

The Home Try-On Program is the best I’ve found, and I’ve tried just about all of the online glasses places for you! Warby Parker makes it easy and smooth. It does require a credit card as insurance (just in case!) but they don’t charge you a cent and shipping is free both ways.

Now, on to the 5 frames I selected for my Home Try-On box:

holcomb
Holcomb in Pearled Tortoise
This is definitely my favorite. It’s just so darling and a combination of heavy rim with the feminine cat-eye shape is undeniably fun.

laurel
Laurel in Tea Rose Fade
I can’t lie, these fun glasses have a bit of a Steve-Urkel’s-Girlfriend-Myra-Monhouse vibe.
That said, I’m not hatin’ on them. It’s quite adork-able.

wilkie
Wilkie in Sugar Maple
Your classic studious eyeglasses. Goes with anything, which is a huge plus for everyday eyewear.

Now, on to the sunglasses, always my favorite part of any Warby Parker collection!

reilly
Reilly in Sparrow Grey
I adore, adore, adore these. I cannot tell you how much I adore these. So utterly chic in a fading gray.
A must-have.

jennings
Jennings in Whiskey Tortoise
These have SUCH a Kennedy vibe, don’t you agree? I think anyone in the Kennedy family could wear these, male or female, and be rocking the Hyannis-Port-chic thing.

Have you ever tried the Warby Parker Home Try-On Program?

Ok, which one is your favorite? Are you hoping for new glasses under the tree?

Firmoo Review & Giveaway

firmoo1GGS

It’s June! Lovely June, one of the fairest months of all, don’t you think? Quite lovely indeed, if I do say so myself (and I do! :)). Time for long dresses, sunglasses, and iced coffee. Did I mention sunglasses? Ya’ll know I have a soft spot in my heart for sunglasses, but sometimes with allergies I just cannot wear my contacts and that makes sunglasses almost impossible! Prescription sunglasses can be SO expensive.

firmoo2GGS

But not from Firmoo. I desperately needed some new ones, as my old ones I’ve had since I was 15 (the frames were Salvatore Ferragamo and were actually my everyday glasses until I got a new pair and replaced the lenses with sunglasses). Those Ferragamo frames are actually still just fine but were about three prescriptions outdated, though, and since I’m not ready for fit-overs yet in my youth, it was well-due time for a new pair.

firmoo3GGS

These are a really fun gray and black animal print with a slight cat eye. They are currently only available in red (odd?). The order process with Firmoo is perhaps the smoothest of all the online ordering I’ve done of glasses, and Firmoo is constantly running great deals. The glasses shipped to me directly from production in China, which bothered me slightly but was a surmountable obstacle. The price is great, and the quality is just fine. True, they aren’t Ferragamo, but the price wasn’t even close to Ferragamo either!

firmoo5GGA

I got an 80% tint (I use these mostly for driving and I like dark glasses for driving) and of course an anti-reflective coating and UV protection (non-negotiables for me, especially for driving). Each additional coating is a slight increase in price, but certainly nothing compared to the cost at a traditional optometrist.

I think these pink and animal print frames would make fantastic sunglasses for summer!
Now for the best part! Firmoo has been generous enough to let me give away (!!!) five (FIVE) (!!!!!!!!!!!!) codes for $30 off frames. There are a lot of frames under or just over $30 that include free single-vision lenses, meaning you’d be able to get the frames for free or almost-free and just pay for lenses (and shipping, does not apply to discounted products) if you, like me, have a very high prescription or add on the bells and whistles. This is so exciting!

Up to three entries per person: If you’d love to add some fun new eyeglasses or sunglasses to your wardrobe this summer, leave a comment here for one entry. You can earn another entry by following me on Twitter (@fashionatalie). You can earn a third entry by tweeting about the contest here: Click to Tweet!

Please leave me a separate comment under this post for each entry.
Contest closes at midnight on Friday, June 6.
Have fun and happy sunglasses shopping!

Warby Parker & Why Nerd Glasses Aren’t For Me

{hi hat hair!}
Ya’ll are as obsessed with Warby Parker’s advertising as I am, right? So great. I want to LIVE the Warby lifestyle. Unfortunately, I think I’ve come to the conclusion through their Warby Parker Home Try-On Program that so-called “Nerd Glasses” are not for me.
Their Home Try-On program is sheer genius, though, and really takes the guess-work out of choosing glasses online. It’s simple: you choose 5 pair you want to try on, and they send you the frames in the mail. You have 5 days to try them out, then you use the pre-paid return label to pop them back in the mail at the UPS station. Easy and did  I mention free? So much fun. So of course I simply HAD to take them up on this offer and try them out (yes, even though I just bought new glasses!). I mean, it’s Warby Parker, you guys! PS> I was compensated by Warby Parker for this post, though the opinion and words are entirely my own. These are affiliate links.
Here is the selection I tried! Top to bottom:

The Webb and Nedwin were atrocious on me, so I’m not even going to show you those. The Holcomb is cute for a fun pair, but not something I would be likely to wear everyday. I loved the classic tortoise half-rims with a bit of a cat-eye though. Such a cute shape.

Now, on to some fun big sunglasses. We all know how much I love me some big sunglasses. The Reilly in Marzipan Tortoise was a simply gorgeous pair of sunglasses, but not my favorite for my face shape.

Now, though, the Mable did not disappoint. I adore the traditional tortoise and the octagonal shape. Classy, fun, bit of a vintage vibe. Sunglasses perfection!

Overall, the Warby Parker big sunglasses definitely won out in my book over any of the “nerd glasses.” I think very heavy glasses overwhelm my features and are a bit heavy for me. This Home Try-On program was well worth it though, and while it does require a credit card “just in case,” they don’t charge anything up front and the entire process is free.
Head on over to WarbyParker and get a box of beautiful glasses sent to your house. I’m pretty sure you’ll find at least one you love!

New Specs and a GlassesUSA Review

I need new glasses, ya’ll.
So these are my current/old glasses. Horn-rim Chaps, oval, get the job done.
But it is time for an update.
I really wasn’t sure how to go about this process, since it’s always so difficult to choose new glasses. But I decided to try one of these online glasses places, and be brave. When GlassesUSA contacted me to do a review of a pair of glasses, I jumped on board! I’d been eyeing (ha, I crack myself up) their site anyway, so it was a great fit.
I don’t just need glasses, you see (clever me, all the puns). I don’t need just frames, or readers. I need prescription glasses. Like, Coke-bottle glasses. Really-really-really thick glasses. Hazardous-to-my-health-AND-your-health blind without my glasses. Such is life. So I always have to get the primo lenses (read, expensive), so saving on the frames is a MUST for my budget. GlassesUSA eyeglasses are a great buy, and their clearance/sales/coupons section is also worth a look.
Here are my two picks (I purchased one pair with my own money and the other one partially with a GlassesUSA.com credit):
Muller in Brown
Personal Shopper in Blue
I made a video to show you the frames in person and tell you a little more about my experience:
I love the lucite and tortoise sides of the Nicole Miller Personal Shopper.
Muller has metal and crystal detailing.
GlassesUSA is always offering crazy-good discount codes, so check out their Facebook and Twitter pages for exclusive discounts. You can also use the code: Blog10 for a 10% discount. You can also try their new Virtual Try-On feature. This wasn’t available when I chose my frames, but I highly recommend giving it a try.

They have a 110% lowest-price guarantee and 100% money-back guarantee, so you’re safe no matter what you decide. Overall, if you need to buy glasses, I’d say GlassesUSA is a great place to update your look!

Soooooo now the question is, should I keep them? Just one? Which one? Both?
And which frames are YOU eyeing?

PS> We’re not talking about the craziness that is my bangs in these photos right now, ok? They’re not chopped weird, I promise, they were just being weird. #whoknows
