I just had to add the hat for effect.

Ice Queen

I’m not sure I’m ever going to take my “crown” off, guys. Like, ever. Okay. 
And yes, I might be wearing ice blue eyeliner, and totally loving it.
I had the inspiration to wear this necklace as “ice baubles” and the “ice blue” eyeliner for a fun photoshoot I did, and just loved it so much I had to wear it out. 
This amazing metal bauble necklace is one of my favorite purchases! I actually snagged it at a Von Maur the night before my photoshoot with Life:Beautiful magazine. It was $12, and I would pay every penny of that again just to wear it on my head like this one more time. I love it! We even used it in the photoshoot for the magazine. You can see it below, after one of the clever LB team girls turned it into a bracelet. I took a note from their cleverness and turned it into a hair piece! Who would have thought?! 
And it’s kinda famous, having been in a magazine and all. 
But enough about my necklace/bracelet/hairpiece (WHICH I LOVE!!!!!! And I’m not going to take it off!)….ok, now that’s really enough. 
I’m going to stop now.

Lime Green and Sequins

This is what I wore to a rock concert. Uhhhh….errrrrr….by “rock concert” I mean “Four-year-old’s Birthday Party.” Kinda the same thing. Lime green, sequins, and neon. My pink and green even (inadvertently) matched the Strawberry Shortcake theme colors!

This little four-year-old? Well, she’s stylin’. That’s her pink leopard raincoat hanging behind my purse. Do they make that in adult sizes?

Draper Girl

Oh my, do I love a good hat! 
A girl hop on a train to anywhere with a good hat.

Ahem. Pardon the complete digression. But these photos were taken at a train station. And then I just got carried away. Bachelor night seems to make me feel a little over-dramatic

And then the sun came out for a hot minute before it started snowing lightly. The wind was blowing something fierce, so I had to hold on to my hat for dear life. 
When I saw that this particular hat was a “Draper” hat, I just had to get it for the Mad Men reference. Apart from its particular cute-ness.
But goodness if there isn’t a bit of romance in that, don’t you think?

Wednesday Work to Weekend

 But lest you think I’m just another one of those girls with a hot date and a mushy love story, let me say: I’m not. I don’t have a date at all. I don’t have a love story (yet). My heart? Well, it will be hidden in God, tonight, as I relish the love HE puts in my life, that HE showers me with. It amazes me. God has overfilled my cup with love, and for that, I am entirely grateful. It is absolutely worth celebrating. I was never one to be down on a day of celebrating love. {but if you do need a broken-heart sad-song, I’d recommend this one, neverminding the video, just the song}

So tonight I’ll spend some time communing with God. Yes, I’ll probably watch a sappy romantic movie and drown my sorrows in some chocolate. But reading my Bible makes my soul and heart sing. It makes me want to be a better woman, a better friend, sister, daughter. It fills me with hope.

Fave New Sweater

This sweater. I’ve been seeing similar versions all over the internet, so when my local thrift store had half off all sweaters, THIS had to come home with me. For $3! It’s like a big old blanket from the comfy couch in front of the fire at the log cabin….in sweater form. And besides, I’m always looking for an excuse to wear my colored jeans to work, hehe.

Fashion & Photography

I love fashion, and I love photography. So an evening spent indulging both passions was truly inspiring. Here’s what I wore to the fashion show to people-watch through my camera lens. And sip lots of Vitamin Water, since they were sponsoring the event.

When I saw this ballskirt, I knew it was what I wanted to wear to StyleWeek. And at $8, I could afford something new & special to wear, without breaking the bank.

I love the juxtaposition of the raw silk ball skirt with the military vest.

One of the photographers told me I was the best dressed photographer in the “Press Pit.” And by that he meant, ‘overdressed.’ Since everyone else was wearing varying degrees of dressiness–front suits to t-shirts. And lots of black.
To which, of course, I said, “I love fashion and photography.” and handed him a business card. Thanks for the compliment, sir! And then another photographer asked to take my picture. So I think that worked out.
What’s the Press Pit, you ask?

It’s where all of the photographers and videographers crowd on a tiny stage to jostle elbows over the best shots. And it’s awesome, if I do say so myself.

How cute is this “off-duty” model from Sarah’s show {see slicked back “wet” hair} who was heading home with her mom and little sis? Super cute, and I love her scarf. So sweet and fun!
And look at this face below! Girl will probably be famous someday. But she’s a good friend, too, and made me take a picture of her with her friends. Rock on, chica! Fierce.

Mint Green Jeans


That’s right. I have mint green jeans. WHICH I LOVE!!!!!!! 
I think this color looks so *fresh* in winter, especially with winter white. It’s so minty-wonderful. 

Mint green jeans. Who knew? I mean, I’m just blown away that these exist, and that I found them in the window of a consignment store for $22 in my size. Normally, I’d say that was just way too much to spend, 
but. hello. mint. green. jeans.
It would have been a betrayal to my second favorite color to leave them behind.
I also tried on some lovely lemon-yellow jeans (can you even imagine?!) but those, alas, were too small.
Not that I’m complaining. 
Because I’m pretty sure mint green jeans count as a ‘score’.

In honor of my new jeans, I had to paint my nails the same color. 

And then I happily noticed the towel I keep in my leopard print ice skating tote bag was the same color. 
So I wore a similar outfit to ice skate last weekend. Complete with leopard print hat. 
Mint green jeans make my life so much more fun.

Bright Mustard and Blues

I’ve been searching for a mustard pencil skirt for a LONG time (a year and a half!). I was truly lusting over the J.Crew Wool Serge skirts, but they were steadily outside my budget-reach, even after so long! What’s up with that? I was checking eBay regularly, but even eBay prices on the wool skirts were sky-high. Then I stumbled across this J.Crew, new with tags, relative-bargain of a mustard tiny-whale corduroy skirt. It was love at first bid. I can’t wait to think of more ways to style this new skirt. For now, my beautiful Land’s End blouse, favorite new tights, and some other basic accessories will make a decent go ’round.
