Great Gift

{New coffee tumbler, because the lid on my hot pink one broke. Sad face for old one, happy face for new one!}
OoooooOOooooo! My brother did an AMAZING job bringing me a souvenir from India. Bro, go to India wheneevvveerrrrr you like {and bring me more souvenirs, hehe}. I am in LOVE with this STUNNING scarf he brought me {it deserves three capitalized words and two parentheticals, it’s so amazing}

{oh you have sharp eyes! yes I did switch boots for awhile}

Gah! Thank you, Brother! I am so glad you had an amazing trip to India and I still want to hear more about it and see the pictures!
This post was going to be a Work to Weekend post, but I just loved both outfits too much, and wanted to give them their own posts. So you’ll see a similar outfit later 🙂 Hope you don’t mind!

Overflowing Happiness

This past week and weekend has been absolutely overwhelmingly beautiful with overflowing happiness. I give it ALL back in praise to God, the source of it all. My boyfriend and I went on a quick trip to Iowa for a special project {to be announced later} and to visit my family. I am still just giddy with the goodness of it all. The fun-ness! See, don’t I look happy:

Yeah, maybe just a little bit happy.

{eyes are open, promise}

More of the good things:

Being {Home}; Pretty red coat and gingham curtains; Boyfriend with coffee from a favorite diner

And we stumbled upon a great little Christian bookstore, too, called Branches. I picked up what is destined to be a new favorite:

This beauty. {image from dayspring}

The verse is
“You have filled my heart with greater joy.”
Psalm 4:7

I think it was a suitable souvenir, wouldn’t you say? I’m sure you’ll see it in future blog posts.
Remember, God is the only one that can bring us back to life. This song has been on repeat tonight—such a good reminder that our God does and will fill our hearts with greater joy. Amen.

Wednesday Work to Weekend

It’s Work-to-Weekend time, since it’s mid-week and we’re all pining for the weekend!

Gosh I love this outfit. Sequin tank is from one of my best friends, who traded it in for another color, and let me borrow this peachy-pink one. We often send each other boxes of clothes to trade/borrow, and this was in my latest installment. I’ve got one allllmost-ready for her by the door!
The beautiful Rome-scene silk skirt it a great new find. I think it will work in spring, summer, and fall (not so sure about winter?)
Weekend Wear:
Jeans, a more casual scarf, and a slightly different take on the color combo, and I’m good to go! Sequins can take a girl anywhere!

IU Style: Polished

On Friday I showed you my weekend look using a cozy Indiana University cardigan. For the beginning of the work week I thought I’d share my more polished, pulled-together Alumni look. I am loving this vintage-inspired varsity stripe sweater, sent to me as one of my prizes for being chosen to win the Spirit of IU Alumni Association’s contest (see details here). It is so much fun to play around with all of the wonderful prizes they sent me (such high quality! love them all!). Thank you again!!

P.S. Lovelies, would you mind voting for me in the Bobbi Brown “Pretty Powerful” contest if you have a sec? The link should take you right to me, and you can click on the pink “Vote” button 🙂 Thank you!

Bold and Burgundy

That title reminds me of “The Bold and the Beautiful” but this outfit is not to be confused with such a thing. Red pants…well, they are the new “thing” it seems. I found these at a tag sale, and you know me, I never miss a good tag sale deal!

I’ve been searching and searching for some great leather boots. Online, they are all upwards of $150 (even cheapies are $90 for fake leather!). I ordered some cheapies, but they just looked too fake, so I sent them back. I hoped and hoped I’d find some at a thrift store (boots are either a dime a dozen or hard to come by in the thrift world, it seems, and this year was a ‘hard to come by’ year). But I found these beautiful burgundy boots for $10, and I think I’ll get some great wear out of them. Thrift patience pays off!

Bridesmaid

I definitely tried to make this dress more casual for daytime wear by adding the texture of a cardigan + belt _ boots. Military green + Bordeaux may be my new favorite color combination. The original use for this beautiful dark ruby dress? It was from my beautiful cousin’s beautiful wedding early this summer! Here’s the original look, which I just love! Red + pearls = makes any girl feel like a million bucks!

Early Summer wedding or Autumn Layers, this dress fits the occasion!

Psstt…this isn’t the first time I’ve reworn a bridesmaid dress. Here’s the other outfit, one of my very first.
