Le Tote Trial

Hi guys! I FINALLY filmed another vlog…the unboxing of my first LE TOTE ! Le Tote is a clothing rental subscription company. They send you 3 pieces of clothing and 2 accessories and you can wear them as many times as you want in a month before sending them back (dirty!) and getting another selection next month. Or if you send the items back sooner, you can get another box the same month. It is $59 a month, and if you like something, you can keep it at a reduced price. I’m SUPER excited by the items in my first box and can’t wait to wear them. Have you tried LE TOTE ? What did you think? This is NOT a sponsored post but the links are affiliate links 🙂 Try it free for 14 days!!

Natalie + Darling Magazine

I’ve been wanting to write this post for a long time, but as much as I write about myself on this here blog, it just seemed hard to write about something so personal to me.
Did you know I’m a poet?
It’s something I drop hints about here and there, especially if you follow my Twitter, but I’m a writer by heart.
Always have been.

Darling magazine asked me to write 8 poems for their 1 year anniversary issue, the Fall 2013 issue. The magazine has 8 ‘personas’ of women, such as The Hostess, The Stylist, The Dreamer, and more, and there is one poem for each. Unfortunately, I just found out the print issue SOLD OUT (yay!) but you can buy the online version here or maybe at an Anthropologie if they have any left. It’s pricey, but you’ll never find a more high-quality magazine in all aspects, and it’s something you’ll return to time and again, I promise.

Darling is such a beautiful magazine that uplifts women and inspires us to think about the deeper things with true heart, and to be women who bring everything they have to the table, holding nothing back. In beauty, humility, and truth we aim to share, give and find all of the love we can.
That is what I hoped to capture in my poems for these women with beautiful hearts.

As a special treat for my blog readers, I decided to read you one of the poems about The Beautician persona. This is the unedited video, wherein I get a message on gchat and check it and then forget I’m recording and fix my hair and sigh and then remember I’m recording. Actually, the ending might be the best part. Ha! Enjoy…
Even if you can’t get a copy, you can always find me writing for their online version, too (though these 8 special poems are only in the print and digital magazine issue).
Thanks for all of your support, friends!

Swedish Snow Chocolate {with King Arthur Flour}

Oh my goodness. I’ve discovered something totally new to me: WHITE hot chocolate, and it’s amazing.

AND it’s Friday, which means a vlog. So let me break it down for you!
As my mom said, “It’s like liquid frosting.”
Can you think of anything better?
It’s thick, rich, and inspired by Sweden with almond, nutmeg, and pearl sugar.
Don’t get all late-winter-cynical on me, pining for beaches and the lake. Since it’s snowing beautifully out my window, and hopefully yours, I highly suggest you make this hot cocoa and settle in for the weekend. Spring will be here soon, and then you’ll wish you could find a snow drift to cool down in!
Next week there is still another baked goodie or two to share, and a few other fun things, so have a great weekend and I’ll see you next week, friends!

1 1/2 cups milk
3 oz. white chocolate, chips or chopped finely
Splash vanilla
Whole or ground nutmeg
Whipped Cream
Whisk milk, chocolate chips, vanilla, almond extract, and a dash of nutmeg in a saucepan constantly until thoroughly combined and very hot. Serve very hot with whipped cream, another sprinkle of nutmeg, and Swedish Pearl Sugar on top.

Weekend Bonus! Makeup Vlog

Hi friends! I hope you’re enjoying your Saturday! I’m getting ready to head out for lunch, but I thought I’d just pop in and share a video about my basic, everyday makeup routine. When I am just doing this in real life (and not talking to the camera!), it takes me under 5 minutes to do this start to finish.
Starring (In Order of Appearance):
CoverGirl TruBlend Mineral Makeup (bummer, looks like they changed it a bit)
Discontinued Lola blush color, but here is their website
Sonia Kashuk for Target blush (looks like travel version is sold out)
Discontinued Smashbox Palette, but this one and this one look similar
(makeup bag is Estee Lauder freebie :-))
If you’re looking to add something dramatic, check out my False Eyelash Tutorial. Love false eyelashes, they don’t have to look fake or tacky.

False Eyelash Tutorial

Like I said, I am no makeup expert by any means, but I do love to see other people’s routines and favorite products, so I thought I’d share mine. Is this similar to your everyday routine?
Have a great Saturday!

Coffee Date Vlog

Vlog #2!
Woo hoo!
My utter dorkiness is real, live, and unedited in all its glory…
Since it’s my second vlog, go ahead and laugh at me.
And also, sorry for the weird lighting. The sun is playing peek-a-boo today.
Linking up with 5ohWifey and Rags to Stiches
Here’s vlog #1, in case you’re interested.
Happy weekend!

Coffee Date Vlog

Happy Friday!
Today I’m trying out something totally new: a vlog or video blog!
Nothing monumental, just a “coffee date” chat and linking up with Rags to Stitches!
Um, so, like, this is me, you guys (embarrassed look). This is my first vlog so go easy on me!
Let’s see, what else is new?

1.) I wrote about my beloved New England state, Vermont, for Elembee blog.

2.) You can “like” me on Facebook now! (if my video hasn’t scared you off!) I share a lot of new stuff on here that isn’t on my blog.

3.) This post went a little crazy on Pinterest. Have you tried it, or pinned it for later?
4.) Here’s a link to the book I mention in my vlog.
Have a great weekend, my dears!

How to Visit a French Bakery

In light of yesterday’s Parisian post, I just had to share this DARLING video I found! It’s just too much adorableness. My favorite part is the little Citron tart section 🙂 Enjoy!
I’m drinking Tazo Early Gray tea out of my Strawberry mug while wearing a shirt rather like this and a skirt made out of sweatpant material. It feels delicious to cozy up on a slightly chill, gray summer morning instead of sweating my way through another 90-degree day. I’m just not such a fan of the heat.
I’m thinking: some baking? Some writing? Some antiquing?
Have a great Friday, my loves!
xo!
