details

{gold glitter cards from target in dollar store frames//(in)courage Postcards from God’s Beach House held up with flowered washi tape}
I’ve been working on a few little details for my apartment lately. Just happy-pretty things. Nothing fancy or expensive here! In fact, nothing much new aside from the gold glitter “art”…everything else I already had–just rearranged or re-appropriated!

{marimekko tin//milk glass vase//milk glass tray//locally handmade bowl//flowers from a friend//liberty of london for target lucite box//pink aviators//clock (gift) from pottery barn//old-as-the-hills etched glass jewelry box I’ve fixed a million times}
{naptime diaries printable & two pages from Life:Beautiful with scripture//bird on branches hooks from joanne’s//thrifted scalloped cream wall box//weekend hats//basket with scarves & umbrellas//planners ready for the week//old schooldesk with library books}
obviously hoping to replace the shoe rack from target with a cute little wooden bench-cubby-thing, but I haven’t found anything good at tag sales yet!

{close up! gold glitter!}
{other happy little details lately}
I really believe that our surroundings affect us profoundly.
I love “making home” and “pretty-ifying” as I say 🙂
It does my heart so much good!

He is our Establish-er

Ya’ll I saw someone wearing this same exact shirt at the library. With jeans.
WITH JEANS. I mean, c’mon. I decided my shirt deserved some stage time with a pretty skirt, shiny shoes, bling ring, and a bow in my hair. I’m a good momma to my clothes like that.
{full disclosure: i’m sure i’ll wear this with jeans at some point and in fact have worn it with my hot pink jeans but that doesn’t make as good of a story, ok?}
Anyway, I have a question. Is establish-er a word? Like, one who establishes someone or something?
No matter.
Let’s pretend it is.
Because God is our Establish-er.
Amen.

Saturday Edition

Happy Saturday, friends!

It’s August like woah.
Time to kick it into high gear and adventure as much as we can before this gorgeous weather is a figment of our imaginations.
Get outside & go adventuring!

Waxing Poetic

Sometimes you have to dig through old things to get to the new ones.

Sometimes you have to wear old dresses for new beginnings.

Like a  lilac 1950s dress for a solo vacation and for chasing down some memories on a walk along the lake, far from home.

Waking up in a new place is good for the soul.
Having experiences beyond your control is good for the spirit.
So is tea on the porch of an 1800s house in the morning light, looking out over the lake and the mountains, seeing the pure white clouds bend low as if to whisper,
“There is light here, darling. You’re almost there. Keep going.”

You’re almost there, darlings. Keep going.
Happy weekend!

Tunic Time

We’ve had a few nights lately with the hint of an autumn breeze in them, so today I took a look in my closet and thought, “What summery things haven’t I worn yet?” This tunic was the first to answer, “Me! Me!”

So I took it out for a day on the town {y’know, glamorous stuff like work, the grocery store, and the car repair place}

{ooo, oooo, don’t my curls looks slightly Duchess Kate-ish here?!}

Kick it Up a Notch

Some days you gotta kick it up a notch, y’know?
Grab the coffee and head out into the world with the most energy you can muster and see what becomes of it. I’ll bet my bottom dollar it’ll be beautiful.
